Preservation

Committed to the preservation of previous generations for the benefit of future generations

The Shelby County TX Historical Commission seeks out people, places, and events that have and or will impact our community. By preserving this history we not only make it available for future generations to enjoy and learn from, we preserve the very history of our county.

The preservation committee oversees and facilitates project conception, capital campaigning and preservation Implementation of causes that have been selected by the Historical Commission. This committee reports to the Commission.

The most recent, but not exclusive endeavor the Shelby County Historical Commission has partaken is the revitalization and restoration of the Clerk Building on the square in Center Texas. This building is over 100 years old and a land mark on the down town square in Center TX. Sadly this building is in disrepair and in need of a complete renovation. The Commission is currently seeking grant funds and private contributions in order to restore this beautiful building to its near original condition. This will also be the location of the Shelby County Museum.
